Metaphric Thinking Design.
Zaan is an IoT app for devices controlling, especially for space cooling device, such as air conditioner. The app is based on AR and hand gesture interactions. The project topic is that promotes sustainable behavior on energy consumption reduction.
Context
Energy consumption on space cooling has been increased fastly these years. Air conditioner has moved from a luxury good to a status quo “necessity”. Change device using behaviour could make a difference. If everyone could reduce the using time, or turn up the temperature for a little.
Ideation
Space cooling device using habits are mainly depended on perceived comfort. We want to arouse users’ awareness and adjust users’ space cooling device-using habits towards lower energy consumption by indicating the impacts of energy abusing.
Implementation
We implement the system with unity and arduino. It detects the hand presence, when a hand releasing state is detected, the speed turns to non zero value and the device will be switched on.
